Nicki hair 2

Nicki hair 2

I’ve been continuing to use my time on unemployment to work on my photography. My friend Nicki was nice enough to stop by and model for me. I did my best to make her look like a Maxim covergirl. Luckily half the job was done just by her walking in the door.

    I like this one.
The look on her face, the lighting, the fact that she’s not centered in the frame.

My favorite of this very cool set…love the framing, the hands in the hair, and her expression.

My first thought on seeing the thumbnail was that I did not like her facing out of the frame. In the bigger shot, however, I do like it, mostly because of the lighting. I like the use of the black background with the black top. The pose just doesn’t grab me though. I like it from a lighting standpoint, but it is something about her for me – she doesn’t doesn’t pull off any convincing emotion in the shot, although she looks like she is trying to.

You did a fantastic job with the lighting in this photo. The pose and the framing are great! If I had to make one note is that you can almost see a "frame" around the front side of her of a grey area. Don’t know if that could be PS’d out. Go for the Maxim job!

Maybe you should look into photography as a job? This is an excellent portrait. Very nice use of lighting and shadows.

The use of negative space is wonderful in this shot. It really draws you to the subject. The lighting to me is not flatering though. The arm seems to become wider than it actually is.

Eye catching shot. I like how she is facing out of the frame but her head is turned to bring the viewer’s eye back in to it. The lighting seems just a bit too concentrated in my opinion. I wish the edge of the shadows on her arm and her side were a bit softer.
