Day 232 of 365 days.

Steph and I went to Ikea to pick out some furniture for our new bedroom. We did not get a couch, but the craziest thing happened when I was snapping this picture and so I just had to use it. While we were sitting there, waiting for the auto timer to go off, a guy walked right in front of us, just as the timer was about to snap. Luckily, I was was enough to lean even closer to Steph just in time so that I’d be in the shot. But it was really funny. Generally, whenever I’m taking a picture, people avoid passing by at all. In fact, I took another picture of myself at the store and this guy holding a baby, went out of his way to wait and not pass BEHIND me. But here, a guy just brazenly walked right across in front. I actually like it. It created a nice sense of motion.

I also like my new dresser. And my new king sized bed. I’ll like it even more once I have a mattress for it.

    This is cute and the addition of the guy adds something….but I still think he’s an asshole! 😉 ahhahahaha!

    Sounds like you’ve returned from the dead too! It is a great addition to the picture to have that guy walking by.

    @Travelinjim: oh, no, I still feel pretty much like crap. Like better crap than a couple days ago, but you know.. life goes on.

    This turned out pretty cool. AND I’m soooo jealous, I want to go to IKEA! Look, you’ve got the yellow shopping bags. Did you get a paper tape measure too? I kept mine 😉

    To be fair to the guy, he probably didn’t notice the camera sitting on the couch across from us. Which was probably a good thing, since it helped my expression 🙂

    You two are too cute, you seem to be lovers and best friends.That’s just great!
    Just like as said last time, I love the pictures you take of your "real" life.

    @lrayholly: well, if you want to move up here, I can look for a place for you. If I get the job I’m hoping for, I’ll be working about half a mile from Ikea. I can go every day.

    @beststephi: yeah, you are less awkwardly posed than you generally are when you know your picture is being taken. But you’ve been getting better at that lately anyway.

    @lagreenfrog: thank you.

    @pi c’s: do you really want it? If you do and you want to come get it, I’m sure I can talk to Steph. She wanted to sell it, but its old, and nothing great. Its ok…. It’s just the bed I bought because I was in college and wanted a bed. I don’t even have the headboard anymore. But it does keep yuou from laying on the floor. Are you willing to come up here and get it?

    Nah, I was thinking more along the line of field trip, not relocation! You people get that yucky white stuff in the winter. Crossing my fingers for the job 1/2 mile from Ikea anyway though.

    hahaha….thanks but i’ll probably pass…it took us over 7 months to get the damn mattress from Chris’ parents…and it would cost us just as much to rent a truck to pick it up in p’burgh and drive it back to b’more as it would to go to the local ikea and buy a new one ourselves 😀

    but thanks for the offer!!!

    @lrayholly: well, any time you want to come up and visit, you know you’re welcome.

    @pi c’s: yeah, it does seem like it’d be a long way.

    Yeah – movement works in the shot! I read somewhere that Ikea stores are designed by Swedish physicists who have access to weird dimensions – I don’t know if it’s true or not, but it always feels like it…

    Seen on your photo stream. (?)

    @Hopkinsii: it’s believable. Ikea certainly does a good job of making use of 4 dimensional space in their design. The way the displays are laid out to move you through the store is nothing short of genius.

    very believeable, and i like the movement too.

    @ms.Tea: Yeah, it really was a lucky accident.

    @Ivania*~: Thank you.

    kingsize beds save marriages.

  19. April 7, 2007 at 12:30 am

    @jessie doncaster: yep. Steph tells me the mattress was delivered today, but its too heavy for her to move upstairs by herself and I am in Boston, still. I can’t wait to sleep in it though.
