And the custom of job flip flopping coincident with parties continues. I was made an offer for a programming job by Combinenet. It seems to be a pretty nice place and seeing as how I have no actual prospects for having money for things like food, bills and most importantly beer, I figured I might as well accept it. I start on the 19th. So that means that there should be money and that I should definitely be having a Jammy Jam (currently scheduled for the 31st). Here’s to hoping that doing so doesn’t flip flop me back into being a bum. So from this point out (or I guess starting in a week and a half) I guess I will cease the complaining about being a bum and go back to good old fashioned american bitching about my job.

Congrat’s!
Is this a permanent job, and not another contract thing?
Good luck with the new job, in any case!
permanent… I was also looking at some contract stuff some other places and a pitt staff job, but none of them seemed great and they never made me official offers, so I think I’m going with this…
Hey, Combinenet is in the Strip… isn’t that where you work? Want to get lunch some time?
Sure!
I’m on Liberty, near 22nd.
ok… I don’t start for a couple weeks, but once I do we’ll have to hook up and you can show me where all the good places are to eat.
Ooh Ooh Ooh! will you come to the african carribean place with me? I keep wanting to go, but it’s a bit more spendy than the places my work people want to go to.
There are TONS of good places in the strip. It gets expensive. And fattening. 🙂
sure… once I have been there long enough to build up a little disposable income. At first I will be eating cheaply to try and get over my recent bumness.
wholeys. mmm… ridiculously cheap sushi…
bastard. my new job is in a warehouse district *without* good places to eat. unless you consider the co-op to be a good place to eat, but since i’m not a hippie i don’t.
ooh!!! I hadn’t even thought about that… that’s a good reason to be excited about working there.
sweet. i should meet you over there for some aussie bbq sometime.
hmmm… sounds cool… same corollary as to connie about my funds though.
you know, if the Jammy Jam date is not set yet, it could always be moved to perhaps more than THE DAY after I return from NY, since I obviously cannot get across the states in that amount of time…
just an idea 😉
well, its pretty much set… the idea is to have it on the 31st, because my birthday is on Aug 1st, and that way we can celebrate me turning 30 at exactly midnight. Then of course I will float into the Carousel, and hopefully be renewed.
Dude, just run. *glances down at black crystal*
bah! sanctuary is a myth… its just a robot that makes you into popsicles. I’m telling you, renewal is the way to go.
A friend of mine worked there for a while… I hope you have a better experience than he did. His supervisor was a total fuckup, and my friend ended up getting fired as a sacrificial lamb.
Good luck.
wheee! way to inspire my confidence!
Yay, money for beer!
Congratulations! What kind of programming will you be doing?
Re: Yay, money for beer!
thanx…
Its web programming… CGI scripting, some database hacking, that sort of thing…
