Ogg is completely different from other formats, in that only wankers have software installed on their machines that can play them.
However, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to learn that while just about every program that uses them is GPL’ed, the actual libraries use a much less evil licensing scheme that can actually claim to be “open”.
