so I was a bum after all…

so I got mail today from the Unemployment Center stating that their investigation found that even though I was an independant contractor for MAYA, I wasn’t self-employed because their “investigation” showed that I wasn’t “free from direction or control in the performance of my job.”

Ummm… who the hell is?

In any case, I don’t owe them any money… so ummm… yay…

So, I think their definition of self-employed is mostly designed to get people who make stuff then sell it. So like if I were a jeweler and made earrings all day, then sold them at craft shows, I would be self-employed.

actually, judging by the questions on the form, they are mostly looking for people who are truck drivers and heavy equipment operators and the like. And I would think they would in fact be subject to review by their bosses. *shrug*
