Day 1335 of 365 4 lyf. You know, I was almost caught up. Oh well… It was a particularly clear night and I was intending to take a picture of me looking up at the stars. But I only had my point&shoot with me. Oh well. 365 days

Day 1073 of 365 Again. The weather was great today. I got Hellcats done early and I even got some shopping in. So what did I do with the rest of the day? I thought I’d teach Steph how to fly. I don’t think she quite has the hang of it, but she’s learning. Also,…

I had been wanting to shoot with Miss Anthropy for a while and she was interested in doing something with Damsel, who’s modeled for me before. They pulled in another girl they knew, Amanda, and we ended up doing a post apocalyptic thing in a junkyard.

Naturally we had no such permission to do so, so once we set off the alarm, the owner showed up. He liked the idea so he helped us set up a few cool shots, much more so than we could have done on our own.

I love it when a shoot works out.

Day 756 of 365 Again. I like to have Steph in my self-portraits as much as possible. I dunno why. It probably is some silly thing having to do with loving her. Gross, huh? So anyway, tomorrow she’s going out on some crazy two day charity bike ride with her family. They invited me along,…

Day 265 of 365 days. The fourth day in my life on the open road. The thing about a life of adventure is that sometimes in order to really appreciate the craziness you have to take a moment to really enjoy the downtimes. Sometimes I forget that. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in what’s…

Cathedral of Learning

Cathedral of Learning

For the Class With Dave group. Assignment: Black and White architecture. This is a repeat assignment from earlier. My original version of this assignment was a much more standard, though high contrast B&W night scene, so I decided to go with something more creative and different from what I normally do. This was shot in the afternoon on the University of Pittsburgh campus. In order to get more fantastic and less realistic tones, I used a combination of Channel Mixer, Curves and Levels adjustment layers with layer masks.

Channel Mixer:
Red: +40 Green: +180 Blue: -100

Levels 1:
input Black: 10 Gray: 1.00 White: 233
output Black: 0 White: 255
with a layer mask blocking out the right (bright) side of the sky.

Curves (input,output):
0,0 41,90 168,141 197,181 228,137 255,255
with a layer mask blocking out the building and the tree

Levels 2:
input: Black: 0 Gray: 1.24 White: 255
output Black: 0 White: 255
