It’s been a while since I had someone sit for me to shoot who had never modeled for anyone ever before, so in a lot of ways I looked forward to shooting Stu more than anyone else. I was amazed at how comfortable she was with the whole concept.

I named it 3 after two other pictures that I gave the same name before (despite it being a different model)

Five of Staffs

This is the second time I have coerced a model’s escort into posing for the tarot deck as well. And once again I am pretty pleased with the result. Kenny looks great with a black eye, I think. I’m starting to really like this high detail, desaturated 300 effect I am using lately. Originally the staff cards were going to be high saturation, but I think the grainy look suits them better. It makes a nice contrast to the sword cards I think.

Page of Swords

I’ve been getting a lot of sword cards done lately, and so here’s another. Liz came over to pose for me again yesterday and we shot the Page of Swords. This is cool because Liz posing for me last time was what gave me the idea of shooting this deck in the first place, and I was pretty sure where I wanted to use her. So hopefully this one came out ok.
Let me know what you think.

Queen of Swords

Yet another tarot card complete. I think Yara was perfect for my Queen of Swords. She had just the right mix of sex appeal and sophistication. When I found out she was a belly dancer as well, I knew exactly where I wanted to take this card. I modified the illustration processing technique slightly from what I did with the Jack of Swords card, and I think I’m pleased with the results. Its a little less comic booky than my original technique. I think it lends more of a fantasy look. The question is, should I stick with it? Should I change the Jack to look like this as well or should I allow some variance of style between cards of the same suit?
Opinions welcome and encouraged.

Day 283 of 365 days. Had another photoshoot today, and I still haven’t finished editing yesterday’s shots. I did put up the Page of Cups card that I put together to both some positive and negative feedback, so I’d appreciate as much other feedback on that (and for that matter, the previous days, Queen of…

here I just really like her smile. I almost cropped it to just a portrait, but I think it works this way too.

She chose this pose. Goofy but fun. I like it, but I don’t think that’s what tonfa were designed for.

I designed this one specifically to be a desktop wallpaper for a macbook. Really, I just like using that aspect ratio.

I used the 300 effect here that I have become so fond of.

Liz came over to do her shoot for the Maverick Tarot set, where she is my Page of Swords. Never wanting to waste the opportunity at a good photoshoot with someone so babeliscious, we took a bunch of other shots as well.
This was a close second pick for the page card. Ultimately, I decided that the one I picked was much more rebellious and and bold and therefore used it for the Page, but I liked this shot so much that I wanted to do something with it. So I processed it with what I am calling my "300 effect." I like how it turned out a lot.
