Theresa sitting in B&W

Theresa sitting in B&W

Did a photoshoot with Theresa the other day. It was the first time she modeled for me (or anyone) but I think she did great. She’s quite animated and about the friendliest person ever.

The final outfit from the shoot was borrowed from me. Theresa has a very tomboyish look that is adorable and sexy at the same time. So I let her borrow my basketball jersey and a pair of boxers. I think it worked out quite well for her. I’m not giving up on lingerie, but this was a nice switch for a change.

This is the second outfit from the shoot. By this time she was getting much more comfortable with the modeling and I think it shows. Even though we tried to get her a little sexier here with the lace halter, she has a certain tomboy appeal about her that is both natural, playful and quite attractive. I think it really came through in these.

These first four from the set are in the clothes she showed up in. I like to spend sometime talking to each model and just relating and being friendly. It’s the first part of getting natural emotions.

She has a gorgeous smile, but in this shot, I can tell she’s still kind of nervous.

Day 190 of 365 days. Slept in today. As long as I possibly could. I’m mostly over having been sick, but not totally and I had a wrestling show today so I wanted to get as much rest as possible. Finally got up, ate some quick lunch and got showered and dressed. Didn’t have a…

Day 188 of 365 days. The nice thing about the blizzard that we’ve been having is that Steph hasn’t been able to drive to work all week so she’s been staying home, which means she’s been around to keep me company all day while I’m stuck at home and unemployed. In fact we only left…

Day 187 of 365 days. You know even though I use a lot of darkness in my photography, I’d argue that my work usually isn’t all that "dark." So today is kind of a departure from the norm I guess. You can blame it on last night’s NyQuil induced coma and hallucinations. I thought of…

Day 185 of 365 days. Witness the picture of a man who looks like crap. I had a relapse of whatever had me sick last week. Started coughing during the day yesterday, and was really sick by the time I went to bed (after taking enough Nyquil to put me in a nice healthy coma).…

Day 181 of 365 days. I originally actually had a different idea for today’s shot but I never got to it because I was busy thinking about my next photo project. Rather than just rush to finish my highly photoshop intensive idea and do a substandard job, I decided to take a picture detailing my…

Day 180 of 365 days. I’m feeling a little better today, not that things are really looking up. Maybe its just that I made myself useful today. Went and got my weekly comic books, then did some grocery shopping. I felt all proactive and was looking forward to doing my daily workout and then for…

Day 179 of 365 days. It was yet another long day filled with mental anguish and depression. A day of constant reevaluation of my life and the choices I’ve made and hoping that it gets better but fearing it won’t. A day of self-doubt. Really I hope I get past that soon. In any case…

Day 178 of 365 days. It was a tough day in Pittsburgh. Last night it got down to -4 degrees Fahrenheit (-20C for metric weenies). I woke up this morning with an upset stomach, only to discover that my hot water pipes had frozen. How the hot water pipe froze and the cold water pipe…

Day 177 of 365 days. I’m still a little sore from yesterday’s wrestling, but I’m healing up nicely. It was nice to be able to sleep in on a Sunday. Basically spent the afternoon working on editing the most recent photoshoot I did (would love to have comments and feedback from other 365ers and fans,…

Martin’s Ferry Steel Plant

Martin's Ferry Steel Plant

Taken for the Class with Dave group. The assignment was to take a picture of some sort of architecture in black and white and to share the photoshop settings for the translation with the group. This shot was immediately what sprang to mind when I read the assignment. Its a steel plant on the way to one of the cities I wrestle in. I took the shot on the way home so that it would be darker and the lights would be on. I used a fairly long exposure and a higher ISO to get a lot of exposure detail.

In photoshop I used a channel mixer adjustment layer to set it to black and white with the following settings:

Red: +20%, Green: +35%, Blue: +75%

Then I added a levels adjustment layer with these settings:

input Black: 15, input Mid: 1.0, input White: 240
output Black: 0, output White: 255
