I take pictures. Sometimes I take them professionally (If you would like to hire me, please email me at mav@chrismaverick.com) and sometimes I do it just for fun.
Much of my photograph appears from time to time throughout the blog, but here is a random selection of some of my favorites (refresh to show more).
Still trying to catch up on photoshoots. This is from a week ago, my very first shoot with Virginia, and her first time modeling. I couldn’t be happier with what we came up with, and can’t wait to work with her again. In particular, this is one of my favorite shots in a very very long time Lots more to come…
yet more pics of andi as I work my way through the series. I’m glad we got such good stuff. I think it’s funny that even when I’m doing something outdoors, on location,I still end up using such heavy almost studio, blacks and shadows. I guess it’s just me. This may be my favorite shot in a long time.
I have a hard time finding male models. I get a lot of my female models through Model Mayhem but there just aren’t as many men there. Luckily I know a gazillion male wrestlers. Facade was perfect for my Eight of Cups card. I asked him to do it ages ago, but we only recently got around to shooting it. Pretty happy with how it turned out.
After doing no Tarot cards for months, I got three done this week. All with new models. Kinda weird the way they go in bursts like that. This one is staring Marybeth, who I did a big shoot with on back on Thursday. A lot more shots of her to come, but I’m actually four shoots of editing behind right now, so it may take me a while to catch up.
And I am caught up with my tarot cards. I still have a couple I want to redo slightly (moving some pictures to different numbers) but at least I’ve finally gotten through all of the ones that I was backlogged on. This is Leia. She was nice enough to sit for a Tarot shoot a few weeks ago (ended up in my 365 for that day). There’s some other photos of her as well that I’ll hopefully get to sooner rather than later.
It’s been a while since I did a new Tarot card again, so it was nice to get this one shot. This is Megan, a new model for me, and I thought she had just the right punky look for my only remaining female sword card (unless I do some reshoots, which I might). She was also adventurous and totally willing to jump in my swimming pool in clothes and swing around a sword that’s almost as big as her. This came out just how I envisioned it, and I really love the motion of it.
The G20 summit was held in Pittsburgh. As can be expected, if the 20 most powerful people on the planet are all in one city making a big to do, people will flock from 100s of miles to protest in front of them. I was working yesterday when all the good dangerous protests happened, but there was still a major police presence (and something of a protestor presence) downtown today. Something like that happens and you aren’t drawn there to capture it, you’re not a real photographer.

Usually I only post four or five photos from a shoot at a time, but I’m still running way behind, so I spent the evening editing my entire shoot with Jonny. It’s rare that I find male models on Model Mayhem, and it’s even rarer that one contacts me. But Jonny did and volunteered for the Tarot deck. Which was perfect because he had exactly the right look for my redo of the Tower Card. He was looking for some TFCD work in my style and in particular liked some of my motifs I use a lot (martial arts weapons and the comic posterization for the tarot deck). So it all worked out pretty good.

Last week I did a photoshoot with Mandy. She’s got a wonderful look. She just exudes the sweet and charming girl next door vibe. Definitely totally hot, but also completely sweet and unthreatening. So I definitely didn’t want to ruin that when shooting implied nudes of her. So that was the charming feature her sexiness and sensuality but without making her look slutty or blatant. I’m totally pleased with what we came up with. In this one in particular, I really wanted to push something different. I decided to create kind of a pinup girl look for her. I think it worked out well. More to come…
Taking a break from constant zivity shoot editing to give some flickr love. Steph and Morgan had literally been begging me to shoot them, since neither of them have any shame whatsoever. (and I can say that cuz I know they’ll both read this and then probably hit me) So I decided to shoot them together. Will be posting them as I have time over the next few days while I take breaks from all my other shoot editing.
Had my first photoshoot with last weekend. In fact, it was the first shoot I’d done in quite a while. She hadn’t been modeling long and most of the stuff she had was very girl-next doorish. She was looking for something a little more glam and sexy. I guess I’m the goto guy for that. *shrug* In any case, I was pretty impressed. I think she more or less brought it. More to come…

Still playing catch up on photoshoots. A week or so ago Nikki and Holly came to pose for me for the first time. Holly has a lot more experience with the whole modeling thing, but Nikki did a great job too. The girls wanted to do some shots on motorcycles for a bar they work at. Their friend Sarge provided one bike, while my neighbor had the other. Hopefully the shots all came out well.

With a name like Morganna, I figured I had to use her for a sword card (my gothic look). I think this turned out fairly well. A lot of my more recent tarot cards have been fairly prop heavy. It’s nice to just get one that goes back to basics. I love her stare in this. I thin its absolutely piercing.
One photoshoot for the week down, only three to go. Unfortunately, this was the simplest one. A tarot card that I knew exactly what I wanted for, and although I’d never worked with Cindy before she was a total pro. I can’t believe I have less than 20 tarot cards left. Well sort of anyway. There’s a few that I’ve since decided I’m not happy with and may want to redo. An artist is never satisfied. Well, maybe he is. Because I like this one quite a lot.
I have a thing for school girls. Everyone has a thing for school girls. It’s a pretty common photoshoot theme too. But I wanted to explore it. Show different types of school girls with different personalities in the same classroom setting. Amaya, Merci and Marybeth were all nice enough to help me out here. Sometimes I love this job.

After doing no Tarot cards for months, I got three done this week. All with new models. Kinda weird the way they go in bursts like that. This one is Miaa and Xero. They were supposed to do a longer shoot, but Miaa wasn’t feeling well. Yet they still showed up to make sure they got the tarot card done. For that I am very thankful. Definitely have to get them back to do a longer shoot soon.
More shots from the Pittsburgh Group shoot. Since I had so many models and makeup artists to work with, I wanted to create a large group fashion photo like the ones used on the covers of Vanity Fair. Wardrobe was provided by Sew Addicted Clothing. Models: Sara Henderson, Nirvana Frisko, Trix Morgan, Nikkie Dvorchak, Ashley Steele, April Gildea, Jennifer Melvin, Michelle Boyer Makeup: Molly Hanley, Stephanie Campbell, Katherine Marshall, Melissa Stephan Wardrobe: Sew Addicted Photography: Chris Maverick Date: 6/13/10

Still playing catch up on photoshoots. A week or so ago Nikki and Holly came to pose for me for the first time. Holly has a lot more experience with the whole modeling thing, but Nikki did a great job too. These may be about the naughtiest shots I’ve done in quite a while. They were Holly’s idea, and I wanted them to be sexy but wanted to keep them sweet and innocent too. Hopefully that worked out.

The girls just started laughing from the sillyness of the moment. The shot was too perfect not to use though.

I had been wanting to shoot with Miss Anthropy for a while and she was interested in doing something with Damsel, who’s modeled for me before. They pulled in another girl they knew, Damsel, and we ended up doing a post apocalyptic thing in a junkyard. Naturally we had no such permission to do so, so once we set off the alarm, the owner showed up. He liked the idea so he helped us set up a few cool shots, much more so than we could have done on our own. I love it when a shoot works out.

A couple weeks ago, Merci Rae and Chaste asked me to come do an urban terrorist shoot with them. I’ll take any chance to work outside of the studio so I jumped right in. I’m glad I did. Finally got a chance to process some of the pictures tonight and decided they needed a little something extra. I decided that giving them that urban acid look would really pop the post apocalyptic nuclear future appeal. Lots more to come

For The Jacket photobook project. Don’t know which ones I’ll be using yet, bt I figured it might be a nice idea to get some edited and posted to the group in case people felt like commenting. Plus, I was bored at looking at just a picture of me in the group pool. Oh, and these are all marked private but in the pool so you guys can see.
