Nine of Swords

Nine of Swords

With a name like Morganna, I figured I had to use her for a sword card (my gothic look). I think this turned out fairly well. A lot of my more recent tarot cards have been fairly prop heavy. It’s nice to just get one that goes back to basics.

I love her stare in this. I thin its absolutely piercing.

Day 354 of 365 days. I hurt myself today, just to see if I could feel I was supposed to have a photoshoot today, but that ended up getting cancelled because I could never get in touch with the model. Instead that gave me some time to work on getting caught up with previous photoshoots…

Day 346 of 365 days. I can’t believe I have less than 20 days left in this project. It was a easy going day. I finished reading Harry Potter without hearing a single spoiler from anyone. This is a good thing, non one has to die now. Then I made some Jammy Jam plans. Things…

Nine of Staffs

Nine of Staffs

It’s been a while since I posted a new Tarot card. I actually had to take a break from it when my computer was in the shop. While it was down D and Adam were in town to pose for their cards. I finished editing D’s tonight. Adam’s will be up soon though, and I’m probably shooting two more this week as well. I need to get some more of the guy cards done. Never thought I’d say that.

Anyway, I was concerned about this one. I was worried that D’s green hair would come across as too punk and not preppy enough to be a staff card, but upon completion I think the hair color combined with the thong and the fire just make the card a little edgier witout moving her into goth per se. She’s certainly not A&F here, but I’d still think she was kind of trendy. Opinions?

XV-Devil

XV-Devil

Schwei was a friend of Brae’s (the model I picked to be the Death card in my Tarot deck) and was accompanying her on her shoot with me. He didn’t have any modeling experience but he had a good look for my concept of the Devil card. I especially love the beard and the tattoo on his hand.

Initially I had envisioned the devil having traditional horns, and I probably could have created some pretty realistic ones in photoshop or maybe with theater makeup, but in retrospect, I’m kind of glad I didn’t. I really like the look of the single model bathed in red light except for the flaming hand. I think more would have been distracting.

This also shows that there are indeed men in the Tarot deck. It’s only the second male card I’ve done. Its actually a little harder to find male models for this kind of thing than I thought it would be. I also need to get some more of the less gothic cards done. Just so that there’s a little more variety. The cards with Steph and Theresa show a little more playfulness, but its still on the dark side right now.

Day 270 of 365 days. Spent the day working on photos for the most part. I should have two more tarot cards up either tonight or tomorrow, depending on how much work I feel like doing tonight. I did get a call about a job interview on Thursday. Before everyone starts telling me that "see,…

Day 229 of 365 days. I had this idea a while back and never got around to it til today. I kind of like the concept and I’m thinking of revisiting it for the Mage card in my tarot deck with whoever I decide to make that card. I definitely need to come up with…

Day 27 of 365 days. So this was something I have been wanting to try since I did the Sun Sword picture a few days ago. Kind of a Human Torch inspired thing. The final result here wasn’t actually what I was originally envisioning, but I kind of like the effect. More or less anyway.…
