sorry.. this is the dumbest thing ever thought off.. best way to get college freshmen to start talking? shut off their phones and internet.. problem solved.

Shutting off phones won’t make them talk anymore. It’s a silly thing, really. It’s not like college magically makes you less social. Social kids will be social. Shy kids will be shy. If you’re really shy, you’re not going to walk up to a stranger and be like “excuse me, can you bottle fuck me so I can drink this coke?”

The best way to get college kids to meet each other is to put up a sign that says “Free Beer” (sex, food, money or floppy disks also work sometimes). Beyond that, they mostly take care of themselves.

floppy disks for the win. As long as they are not re-formatted AOL coasters. 😛

That was actually a call back to anyone who attended my Alma Mater (Carnegie Mellon University). Given that it is a pretty geeky school with a traditionally bad football team, for the most part the team was ignored. Except once in the 1980s, there was an attempt to boost attendance for a game by giving anyone who attended a free floppy disk. It was the best attended game ever for decades that followed.

So.. It’s really a ploy to get people to buy 2 bottles instead of one.
