It’s no mistake that he gave it it the prettiest one. And women do know this.

  2. May 18, 2014 at 10:13 pm

Stephanie can answer for herself, (because she hates when I put words in her mouth) but I think she believes that he was just reaching the ball out to anyone behind him and that the girl on the left is just the only one who reached forward for it.

But yeah…. No… He knew what he was doing…

Watching the video a couple times, it looks like he turns around and is offering it to the woman directly behind him, who doesn’t make a move to take it (maybe she’s being nice, not wanting to take the ball from a kid) and the woman on the left reaches out for it. I think the first woman’s expression is a disappointed “I can’t believe she took the ball.” But clearly, the woman who took it is used to males doing nice things for her.

Yup. The game had been going on for a bit. He knew who was around him.
Babies and toddlers often “flirt”. Same principle. Even if he doesn’t KNOW what sex is (ick – girls) he knows.

thinking about it more, I think he was just trying to get rid of the ball he’d been holding. His friend was also holding a ball, so he didn’t give it to him. I think it may have just looked like he was “pulling a fast one” when he was doing something to convenience himself.

see, I don’t think he was trying to give it to the girl on the right at all. He knew exactly who he wanted to give it to. Steph has been watching it in slow motion, so she thinks she sees I’m pause at the closest girl first. But I don’t think so. I think this was “hey baby, let me hook you up with this baseball….” and he wanted it to go exactly where it went.

Now that said, if the right most girl had done anything remotely flirty to him, she’d have gotten the ball

Stephanie: you really are adorable. 🙂

  8. May 18, 2014 at 10:18 pm

Maybe someone will interview the kid, so all this can be resolved.

  9. May 18, 2014 at 10:20 pm

no it wouldn’t. He’s not going to say that. A 10 year old boy is smart enough to lie. He’s not going to go “yeah, I dunno… i thought this a good opportunity to get laid, so I went for it.”

at 10, you totally know that you’re still young enough to play anything that might be considered inappropriate off as “but I’m just a kid. I don’t know any better”

  10. May 18, 2014 at 10:20 pm

He probably didn’t want to confuse the “real” ball with the one he’d brought either.

  11. May 18, 2014 at 10:20 pm

if that were the case he’d have given it to one of his friends.

  12. May 18, 2014 at 10:21 pm

His friends had their own balls, too. If they had to hold 2, then it would be harder to catch a foul.

  13. May 18, 2014 at 10:21 pm

he has a very obvious flourish when he turns. He definitely wanted it to look like it was the real ball

  14. May 18, 2014 at 10:22 pm

He was probably happy he got a game ball.

  15. May 18, 2014 at 10:23 pm

    see!!!! adorable!!!

  16. May 18, 2014 at 10:26 pm

Reuven Goren: people also have the tendency to project intent onto random events.

  17. May 18, 2014 at 10:27 pm

Oh, absolutely people do that. I don’t think that’s the case here.

  18. May 18, 2014 at 10:27 pm

I’m with Reuven. I think it happens. I think that’s not this.

  19. May 18, 2014 at 10:41 pm

He definitely did a quick glance over the girls behind him and chose the one on the left. I’d say it’s a combo of wanting to pull a fast one AND going for the attention of the cute girl.

  20. May 18, 2014 at 10:44 pm

I doubt that was their first interaction of the game.

  21. May 18, 2014 at 11:15 pm

Catching a game ball is a matter of honor, no 10 year old baseball fan is going to give one up even if he had already caught a dozen that day, unless it’s for a younger sibling. This was totally a move to score points with the honeys.

  22. May 18, 2014 at 11:17 pm

Well the ball he gave away wasn’t actually a game ball. So Steph thinks it was worthless to him and would have just been in the way.

I contend that Steph has never been a 10 year old boy.

  23. May 18, 2014 at 11:18 pm

    From Texas…never trust a boy from Texas….

  24. May 18, 2014 at 11:19 pm

Yeah, even if not a game ball I don’t see the 10 year old me giving away a baseball lightly, it’s not like it’s that difficult to carry several of them.

  25. May 18, 2014 at 11:21 pm

As a post aware-of-girls male myself I’ll go a step further, never trust a male that’s aware of the fairer sex. One could call my actions into question as young as 5.

  26. May 18, 2014 at 11:21 pm

That’s what I was telling her. She thought he “didn’t want to get them confused”

    But that wouldn’t happen either.

I just think she wants to think the best in people. So do I… Only to me “the best” in this case is “dammmmn!!!! Kid Legendary got skillz, yo!”

  27. May 18, 2014 at 11:51 pm

stepping in here as a friend of a friend, hi. i am with the guys here, and my additional proof and rationale for this comment is the boy’s presumed father, whose embarassed eye roll tells me he is also with us and has perhaps seen/heard some less smooth stuff this game/life. i dont think he would have had that reaction that quickly in the “pulling a fast one on anyone” world.

  28. May 19, 2014 at 12:10 am

Yea… that kid’s smooth. I mean he’s the kind of 10 yr old boy who wears pink sunglasses and sits front row. He’ll be in a frat in 10 years

  29. May 19, 2014 at 12:12 am

As a female, I think he is totally flirting.

  30. May 19, 2014 at 5:59 am

you know, there’s a slight chance the kid’s just being nice. like…maybe he was raised on a farm in kansas by a kindly old couple…or a single mother who died of tuberculosis in 1935 and he’s just passing time til he’s old enough to fake being 18 so he can enlist. I’d say there’s a 2.5% chance he’s just a nice kid…

  31. May 19, 2014 at 6:17 am

He does ‘wave’ over his head Chris. Whether he had ‘getting some’ or not on the mind conscious or unconscious, he was also being a douche… He kept the real ball in his mitt. That’s being an ass. Mister tricky. Probably learned from his dad.

  32. May 19, 2014 at 6:17 am

I finally watched the video. That little cheat! If he’d given her the real ball, he might’ve gotten laid in six or seven years.

  33. May 19, 2014 at 6:19 am

oh, i totally acknowledge he was being a douche… I’m just saying his motives for giving the ball away weren’t innocent

  34. May 19, 2014 at 6:20 am

If he’d given her the real ball I might have given him the benefit of the doubt on innocence.

  35. May 19, 2014 at 1:44 pm

Hmmm, you made me go back and watch it a few times…I don’t know about “getting laid” part but definitely an act to impress the ladies, in front of his friend & dad for sure…as well as to “pull a fast one”. The trickery part plays a little heavier on this one for me than the sexuality you’re implying. Just sayin…guess I’m in the middle of you & steph here 🙂
