The G20 summit was held in Pittsburgh. As can be expected, if the 20 most powerful people on the planet are all in one city making a big to do, people will flock from 100s of miles to protest in front of them.
I was working yesterday when all the good dangerous protests happened, but there was still a major police presence (and something of a protestor presence) downtown today. Something like that happens and you aren’t drawn there to capture it, you’re not a real photographer.
Since a few of the protests have gotten a little out of hand, the city has had battalions of riot cops roaming the streets to keep the peace. Honestly, it’s probably as disruptive as the protests themselves, but it sure is cool to see. That’s them in the background.
While I was taking this self-portrait, a local newspaper photographer took a shot of me shooting myself with the cops in the background. She talked to me briefly to get some info on me and the 365 project, so I might be in the paper tomorrow.
Now I have to buy one. Where the hell does one even get newspapers. 🙂
Some of the shots are already online in my G20 set. I’ll be posting more tomorrow.
