Day 569 of 365 More.

Witness the creative process. Maverick Studios isn’t just for photography. I alluded to my new project in yesterday’s pic. Today I spent the day working on it.

I first decided I wanted to be an artist when I was seven years old. Only I didn’t so much want to be the kind of artist I am now. That came later, as I grew older and gained an appreciation of other art forms. What I wanted when I was seven was to make comic books. I used to draw them when I was a kid. I made superhero versions of all my friends. Then though a serious of unfortunate events in college an art school I came to hate art. I gave up my dream.

For a while anyway.

The dream is back now. And its being realized. Max and I have decided to publish a comic book. Something we’ve been threatening to do for years. Funny thing about Max and I is that we’re actually very devoted employees. We’ve had contract gigs together before, and the reason we work so well together is that we’ll stay up all night if need be to make sure we get the project right for the clients. The problem comes when we’re only working for ourselves. It took us six years to finally get around to rebuilding Elseworld, our art site. We talked about it constantly. We had ideas. But we never did anything. Once we put our minds to it and started, we knocked the whole thing out in a month, and it looks great, if I do say so myself.

So it’s no surprise that we’ve been meaning to get around to publishing a comic book together for at least like five years. We just never did anything. Well, now we are. We’ve decided to publish a book based on several of my models. We’re calling it "Science Ninja Action Team: Cosmic Hellcat IX." It will be a science fiction comedy manga, chronicaling the adventures of the Hellcats as they trek through the cosmos. I’m about 2/3 of the way through plotting the first issuem while Max works on character designs. We want to have the whole thing done and published before Pittsburgh comicon at the end of April. It’s an aggressive schedule, but like I said, once we put our minds to it, we make good time.

Once we’re done, I’m hoping to fall in love with a Lesbian who draws girly flower books. Have an unlikely romance that will eventually ruin my friendship with Max and then maybe get shot down over Pearl Harbor. Should be fun.

So, who would want to buy a copy?

    Well Max, at least if you and Max are shot down over Pearl Harbor, you can know that the strife of war will someday bring you two back together.

    @Mikey aka DaSkinnyBlackMan: noted…

    @☼ Helder: we might have a fan art section of the website, when we launch. Maybe even publish some in a later issue.

    @spresogna: Ugh… now you’re confusing me and Max? We’re used to it. His mom even confused us a couple times. (Not as embarrassing as the day *I* confused us.

    Also, I did the math. I believe that video may in fact be the best thing ever.

    I already told you I want a copy. And someone already posted the Jimmy Kimmel video (the full version of the Sarah Silverman/Matt Damon one is fun too), so I have no other clever comment about the talent (or lack therof) in certain actors in Kevin Smith films.

    @mickeysacks: yeah. I didn’t have time this morning. But I figured I’d have to look for it later myself.

    I walked past you today. I didn’t stop and say hi because you were in conversation with someone, and I figured you probably wouldn’t want to be bothered on your lunch break.

    @disco~stu: I’m sure I’ll mention it when we’re done.

    @dyannafstop: Oh wow. By all means, next time, say hi.

    @adayinthelife: cool. Let me know.
