Day 164 of 365 days.

Sometimes I like my backup ideas better than the initial plans.

A couple days ago, a company that sales water purifiers called me and asked if I’d allow them to come to our house and test our water and give us a sales pitch. In return, they’d give us a $40 gift certificate to. Not really having much better to do, I agreed. And, if nothing else, I figured it’d be a pretty cool 365 shot of us testing the water.

The guy came and once he realized I was unemployed, he decided to hold off on the pitch til I have a job. Apparently part of the pitch is to offer us a one-time deal at a discount. So he’d rather offer it while I’m working and he feels there’s a better chance of us actually buying the thing. So even though we got our gift certificate, there was no water testing done. Left without a picture I decided to at least do something with water to commemorate it. This is what I came up with.

This reminded me of a Mardi Gras cup! Flashy, Splashy! Mardi Gras is Feb. 20th, you and Steph should come down for a good time.

Thanx everyone. I’ve always wanted to do a good splashing water pic since seeing a whole bunch of other people’s here.

@Expectant Alchemist: Thanx, I’m glad it worked out. I hate using flashes.

Cool Mav. Yeah, I think the only 365 in my set where I used a flash is my water-on-the-face shot. Flashes and water seem to get along well.

@dave: I have done it a couple other times, but in general, I hate flash photography. I got hot hot lights for my studio just so I could avoide using it.

    Wow. Splashy.

I’ve given up on trying to photograph moving water.

This is awesome…from the thumbnail I thought you were smashing the glass down on a table and the water was splashing out (another interesting idea, perhaps, though potential for broken glass).

    I hate flashes too. 😀

I love this for the motion shot. Very different from other things I had in mind. I love frozen in time water. It just looks great.

    funny story…before i start…i love your shot.

about 2 years back i got a similar phone call. i was pregnant at the time and we decided…what the heck…though we weren’t offered a $400 gift thingy… the woman that called to set it up asked me if i was related to a mark w. and i said, yes, he’s my father. turns out she was a woman that dated him when i was a little girl, after my parents split up. i really really liked this woman and was really sad when my father split up with her…and married a different woman instead. oh well…my father is still married to that woman so i guess he made the right decision for himself….but i still liked maureen better! (now…please, please do not let anyone that knows them read this!!!)

@Jen: That’s hilarious. The guy who came here had tons of storie, but nothing anywhere near that interesting. Oh, and it was $40. Not $400. Oh well.
