Day 58 of 365 days.

For some reason I’ve been on this big "black and white" photo kick this week. I don’t know why? It just has something to do with my mood I guess… and I haven’t really "felt" like color.

In any case, went to Steph’s brother’s house to celebrate his birthday. Played with the kids a bit and decided to take a photo on their swingset. Now that I’m back here and away from all things swinging, it occurs to me that what might have been cooler is if I had gotten a picture of me jumping off the swing like I used to when I was a kid. Of course I probably would have broken my neck. Still, I’m going to have to try that at some point.

Go ahead and jump…it’s still a headrush!
But yea…your back will hurt a little.

I liike this photo, especially in b&w. It still retains a "childlike memory" quality.

I was so thinking about doing a playground picture today. I should have too, it was so nice here. But, I was thinking about getting one of me going down the slide.

Another good idea for 365. Well done, the B+W works well. The picture has a good feel to it.

yes, jump jump jump!!! i don’t think you’ll break your neck b/c you wouldn’t have to be going too high for the photo to turn out well….so just a kiddie push would do it ! i love this shot mav…and i go through my weeks of pure b&w shots too….something about it sometimes.

    Nicely done!

thanx for the comments everyone. I’m glad you all like it. It’s not so much that I’m afraid to jump off the swing. It just didn’t occur to me til after I got home. As for breaking my neck, I’m not really worried about that either. It’s just that if I’ve learned anything since starting my wacky pro-wrestling career, its that I’m so much more likely to get hurt doing something stupid in real life than I am doing something stupid in the ring. I have no idea why that is.

I like the contrast of the playfulness of the swing and the direct look into the lens. Works well in b&w too. Makes me smile, and brings back memories. I need to get myself on a swing.

I doubt you’d break you neck, but I even more doubt you’d get the timing right to do it as a self-portrait. Especially without doing it like 50 times.

    Video screencap, maybe.

I’m sure I could time it with the self timer after a few shots. And if not, well, I’d just have to shoot it 50 times. No biggie. Wouldn’t be the first time.

I was thinking you’d done a swinging picture. I’ve been wanting to do my jumping off pic ever since I saw this.

@Travelinjim: yeah, I’ve been meaning to do one since then too. Sooner or later, I’m sure.
