Day 53 of 365 days.

A couple weeks ago, in the 365 forums, someone mentioned you could get free mini cards from www.moo.com with your flickr pictures in them. Free?!? Well, I’m all on top of that. So I decided to order them. Mine came in today. When I got home, I was also happy to see that my new 50mm/f1.8 lens was in. So this is a picture of my new cards taken with the new lens. I’m pretty happy with both. I may even have to order a bigger set of mini cards, as I like them so much. And the lower DoF I can get with the new lens is great. Of course, Taking pics with my standard black backdrop, you’d never know it. Next I think I want to get some better studio lights.

    oooh! YOU got them. I tried, and tried…see my recent addition to the discussion, all of a few minutes ago when you were carefully posting this. So, are they worth $20 plus shipping?? Are they really much smaller than a standard business card?
    anyway, about your photo…I really like it…you chose a great selection for your cards and I’m so JEALOUS…I wanted the freebies too…but it just didn’t happen 🙁

    Nothing better than a 50mm f/1.8, other than the much-more expensive f/1.4 USM.

    My film SLR for years was an Olympus OM-PC with only the Zuiko 50mm f/1.8. I loved that lens! (I wish I had the Canon 5D’s full-frame sensor….)

    @pi c’s: yeah, i think I’ll probably order some more in a bit. They are pretty damn cool. They’re about half the size of a standard business card, which is pretty weird and I wonder why they did it that way, but the paper stock is REALLY nice.

    @wtf?: woohoo! I’m special! 😛

    @sadandbeautiful: Well, I got the notice that they had shipped on the 27th and they arrived today, if that helps.

    @phlewght: Yeah, its nice. The camera is much lighter and I love the focus on it. I’ll be much happier when i have some good lights though. That’s my next purchase. The ones I have work, and were great before, but the better I get, the more control I want.

    How’s the quality of the cards? Mine should be arriving any day, I can’t wait.

    Of the image, rather– is it grainy at all?

    @Culotte Folle: Oh, they’re pretty good. Basically a photograph. And most of my pics on flickr aren’t even at all that high resolution.
