Day 48 of 365 days.

Won my nightly poker game in record time and then I was just sitting up watching TV (I don’t sleep much) and when midnight hit, I decided to get a jump on todays self portrait. I was especially eager since what I had planned seemed like it was going to take a while. In actuality I got it done in a little over two hours. This is actually what i initially had planned for yesterday, and its an idea that I had been toying with in my head for weeks. In fact the portrait from Day 30/9-10-06 uses the same basic techniques. What we have here is a "self portrait" in pretty much every single sense of the word. Sometimes silly photoshop tricks just amuse me. Its amazing what you can do with a camera, a pad of paper, a computer and a wacom sketch tablet.

    thankyou for the comments everyone.

@seraphic: I took a picture of my sketch pad, I took a picture of myself. I shrank my picture and superimposed it on the sketch pad and then used my wacom tablet to overdraw on it and a layer mask to blend them. Then I drew in the pencil in my hand by hand and distorted a copy of it into a shadow.

@studio – I think there’s always more to be said than that but anyway…

Mav – I think this is an awesome shot, saw it in 365 earlier and thought it was a great idea, I would perhaps like to see your face but looking down does fit with the theme. Muted colours are cool, and the various lighting is nice too.

Nice execution of a great idea. Maybe the subject has already been explored by others, so I would have preffered to see a more unique creation. I nevertheless like this image, and I think this is due to a very nice composition. The position of the model (I guess it’s you) is particularly well studied.

    This is awesome Mav!

I’ve had an idea kinda like this (based on escher’s hand-drawing-hands) in my head for a long time…but I’m not sure I can actually pull it off (or figure out what the idea is exactly).

    This is great.
